Lesser crowd, nice environment, with dining pavilions by the rice fields, Duck was marvellously crispy fried to perfection, somehow the pungent "duck" smell has been eradicated by their marinade of fragrant spices...Try to get the outdoor seats nearest to the rice fields, right under the coconut trees, the reward is a dining experience in serene relaxing atmosphere...Date of visit November 2012ValueAtmosphereServiceFoodAsk Adcye about Bebek Tepi SawahThank Adcye This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I assume as a former chef i know too much the sambals are probably not refrigerated as they do come room temp. I guess when it's freshly that would've been fine, but if it has been out for a couple of hours.....well.....fermentation, acidity, etc.....rises and will wreak havoc inside your stomach hours later.....eventhough temporary this could be any case.....the food is good, the place is sorry just okay, in my opinion, the crowds.....well, you should come early and ask if you could be seated away by the rice fields for more of visit November 2012ValueAtmosphereServiceFoodAsk Cycliste D about Bebek Tepi SawahThank Cycliste D This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Been reading some reviews that stating the duck was bad, but I think it were merely because they had different taste, some people might prefer dry duck and some other might like not-so-dry. But for me, I love the duck. The paddy fields view was astonishing. It is true that the price was a bit expensive, but almost all restaurant in tourist area in Bali are over-priced their menu, so Bebek Tepi Sawah price is just fair compare to other cafe/restaurant. We spent IDR260k for Bebek betutu, Crispy duck and 2 beware of mosquitos bite if you had dinner at this place, the restaurant is providing mosquitos coil near your table, but I still got bites 2x...Date of visit November 2012ValueAtmosphereServiceFoodAsk LoisKwee about Bebek Tepi SawahThank LoisKwee This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Sorry, I just called over there and they said they are NOT halal... But there are several good Nasi Padang restaurants in Ubud that are of course... One on Jalan Hanoman, and two on Jalan Raya Ubud the main road . Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Thank you so much for taking such an effort just to help me out Ubudpuppy .. im speechless for a moment yet so grateful D.. it seems i have to go to Bebek Bengil, as i read, they provide a musolla for their patrons meaning theyre halal establishment to me. regards syam aris Destination Expertfor Ubud, Pemuteran, Yogyakarta Region, Indonesia Level Contributor 17,221 posts 125 reviews 144 helpful votes 3. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago You are welcome...a very easy thing for me to do and I'm happy to help.. i am sure you would do the same! If you have to have the crispy duck then Bebek Bengil is an ok place, but it's highly over rated. I'm sorry that Tepi Sawah could not suit as it's much better than Bebek Bingil Dirty Duck. Have a wonderful trip! Level Contributor 30 posts 22 reviews 12 helpful votes 4. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago hi ubudpuppy, Just came back from Bali and found out that Bebek Bengil is non-halal too as they also served pork/lard food as per said by my tour guide.. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Hi Arissyam Oh, I'm so sorry...strange that they would have a mussholla and yet also serve pork. Frankly, I don't think you have missed too much.. Crispy duck many years ago was meaty and delicious. And it became a famous food because it used to be good. Now it's mostly just famous for being famous. There is such demand for duck now, the farmers are harvesting them when they are very small and have very little meat. To me, you can make almost the same thing yourself by marinating a duck in some spices and then putting it in a deep fryer until the duck turns very very dark brown.. Other than that problem, how did you enjoy your trip to Bali? Hope it was good... 6. Capt_LongshanksReviewed May 17, 2011 We decided to try another duck restaurant this year since we've already been to Bebek Bengil last year. Bebek Tepi Sawah has a great view of the rice paddies and although we haven't tried everything on the menu, the crispy duck was so great my friend went back the next day for a second helping. Staff were very attentive and helpful, too, which is a big plus. Will be returning to this place. The restaurants sets itself in the middle of a 'sawah' / paddy field where patrons can choose to dine seated on chairs or on the wooden plank floors in small food are reasonably priced and taste amazingly delicious. If you can stand spicy food, ask triple heap of all the tiny chilli pots they provide with your main dishes. We tried both their crispy duck as well as chicken rise. As a side order, weordered a nice plate of gado-gado to food and atmosphere here are lovely. Read our transparency report to learn February 13, 2011 Last December we were there, and I just realise that I have been recommending this restaurant to my were there with friends to spend some time in Ubud and this restaurant was recommended by one our friend before so we finally to decide if this restaurant is great to try and good for value of we arrive it was pouring and hardly to get out from the car and we do not bring any umbrella, but as soon as our car parking in from of the restaurant 2 ladies come with umbrella and took us to started to order drinks and food because we were stuffing and the drink came not very long before the food. We were surprise of the service it was so quick. This restaurant specialities in duck so order duck and a pork ribs. It was delicious and the duck I had was very tender and it just the right portion. Even the Bebek Bengil/dirty duck is not better than here. This over looking rice view restaurant even made our time more enjoyable when they serve a complimentary home made coconut ice cream which we never order before and it was fantastic taste. A couple of nights earlier, we had visited and been very disappointed with the more famous restaurant "Dirty Duck" see my review of that restaurant. Tepi Sawah restaurant is to the southeast of Ubud heading towards Goa Gajah, the elephant cave. The duck had plenty of meat on it, it was juicy not dry and the plate was filled with vegetables and rice. Two of us paid 360,000 Rp including the crispy roll starters and beer, but no dessert nor wine. Crispy duck is great and service is on point maybe for the high rate taxes-tips? Keep it in mind.Sambals were great crispy duck was nice if only a little oily ribs a bit of a gripe with me why does everyone do sweet ribs!!! My wife loved them its my opinion just dont like sweet ribsHonestly, the fried duck is as xpensive and crispy as in bebek bengil. HOWEVER, the taste and scenery is definitely below bebek bengil. Please do check what i said, and i believe you'll agree with view, rice fields, tasty food, not expensive, friendly people, no touristic place, always busyFantastic place, you eat in the middle of the rice field, or palace?.. Food is alright but not sophisticatedSmoked and grilled also very good, can choose to sit on chair or floor, nice view!Resto with best view of rice field.
